Admissions

The Court Reporting Institute of Louisiana administers all admission programs in compliance with policies established by the Louisiana State Board of Regents. Please call the administrative office for information regarding dates and fees. Also, check out our calendar for future enrollment dates and holidays.

Registration

All applicants must submit a completed application and have an interview with the Director. An entrance exam and typing test are administered after payment of the $125 registration fee.  These tests may be scheduled at your convenience by calling the administrative office.

Transfer Student and Transfer Credit Policy

Court Reporting Schools:
Students may transfer from another court reporting facility and receive credit for previously taken subjects.  Credit for court reporting skills and tests must be equivalent to a minimum score of 95%. Academics must be passed with 80% passing score. A skills test must be passed at a particular speed to ascertain the level of writing speed for that particular student.

Students who have learned a theory other than Phoenix Theory must be writing at a minimum speed of 100 words per minute to enter our institutionTransfer Students from Other Institutions
      

Non-Court Reporting Accreditted Institutions:
During the enrollment process, students who have previously taken subjects at another recognized, post-secondary institution may receive credit for clock hours according to the following guidelines:

  • Student must present an official transcript for credit consideration.
  • Credit for court reporting skills and tests must be equivalent to a minimum score of 95%.
  • Previously earned credits for academics will be acknowledged only if taken within the past five (5) years and completed with a grade of “C” or better.
  • The program director and/or school director (if the program director is not available) reviews the official transcript to determine which classes, if any, allow for appropriate credits(s).

Orientation

All students must attend orientation on the first day of class.
