Student Financial Aid

A school must be accredited and approved by the FSA US Department of Education in order to participate in the Federal Financial Aid programs.  Court Reporting Institute of Louisiana has been approved as an eligible institution by the United States Department of Education to participate in Federal Financial Aid Programs -- PELL grants, Stafford subsidized and unsubsidized loans, and PLUS Parent Loans (click here for more information about Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) programs).  All student and parent loans can be taken through any approved lender.

VA Education Assistance Funding:  Court Reporting Institute of Louisiana court reporting program is also approved by the Veterans Administration for education assistance to veterans.

 Lousiana TOPS Tech Grant:  Court Reporting Institute of Louisiana is approved to offer the Louisiana TOPS Tech Grant to its students. Please have your FAFSA submitted before July 1 of this year. FAFSA's submitted after July 1 will be penalized and submissions after October 29 may not be processed for this coming award year.

The student must enroll in a program by the next semester after the first year of graduating from high school. Other qualifications are listed below.

All transcripts and SAT and/or ACT scores must be sent to the school for consideration for the Louisiana TOPS Tech Grant. http://www.osfa.state.la.us/TOPS_T.htm

Standard Eligibility Requirements

- Minimum High School GPA of 2.50 (GPA computed on core courses only)
- 17 Tech Core Units for Option 1
- 19 Tech Core Units for Option 2
- Minimum ACT Score (or SAT Equivalent) of 17
- Must enroll full time as a first time freshman, by the first semester following the first anniversary of high school graduation
- Be a US citizen or permanent resident
- Meet TOPS Louisiana Residency requirements

*BESE-Approved Home Study Eligibility – ACT/SAT Score of 19 (2 points above standard in lieu of core units and GPA)
*Louisiana Residents graduating from an eligible out-of-state high school – ACT/SAT Score 20 (3 points above standard in lieu of core units and GPA)

For new students who file their FAFSA after the July 1 year of graduation deadline, but by July 1 following the year after graduation, TOPS funding is delayed one year to the Fall semester after graduation. However, the student can receive 2 years of funding (if all continuation requirements have been met).

Student loans are also available through private entities like Louisiana Capitol Federal Credit Union at its area locations to accommodate students.
